The Artist
Amanda Charles
After receiving a First-Class Honours Degree in Appplied Arts, Amanda started her own glass practice exhibiting internationally and at home.
Amanda's work is influenced by iconic contemporary art movements, drawing inspiration from the simplicity of Bauhaus Modernism to the complexity of non-representational Abstract Expressionism.
Her compositions are abstract, often using colour, intricate linear detailing and geometric and organic pattern to drive the narrative.
Experimenting with different methods, she combines contrasting glass and focuses on the expressive power of colour and light reflection to achieve chromatic harmony. She believes that art can be functional as well as purely visual.
Developing her discipline further, she has branched out into what she refers to as "Glass Art from the Heart" specialising in creating her own Chuppah Glass which she turns into contemporary artworks. She feels that being able to capture that Mazeltov moment and preserve it in a work of art is a privilege. She is delighted to work closely with couples to create a bespoke memento of their special day - an heirloom to be treasured for years to come.
